The hurricane Mitch (Central America 1998)





*The hurricane Mitch was one of the ciclones tropical more powerful and mortal that have seen in the modern era, having a maximum speed of winds sustained of 290 km/h. Mitch Went through Central America of the 22 of October to the 5 of November in the season of hurricanes in the Atlantic of 1998. Also caused miles of million dollars in material losses
Mitch Formed in the west of Mar Carribean the 22 of October,2 and after going through conditions extremely favourable, achieved quickly the category 5, the highest level possible in the scale of hurricanes of Saffir-Simpson.After displacing to the southwest to the same time that weakened , the hurricane striked Honduras like a hurricane of minor category. It moved through Centroamérica until achieving the Bay of Campeche for finally strike Florida like a tropical storm.

Because of his slow movement between the 29 of October and the 3 of November, Mitch left historical quantities of precipitations in Honduras and Nicaragua, with reports no official of until 1900 mm.The deaths ocasionadas by the catastróficas floods did it the second hurricane more mortífero of the Atlantic,2 near of 11.000 people died and around 8.000 remained disappeared to ends of 1998.
